Alien worlds
Alien Worlds is one of the world’s most-played blockchain games, combining strategy, exploration, and decentralized governance. Players mine resources, collect NFTs, and participate in a unique play-to-earn ecosystem powered by Web3 technology.
The game is developed and published by Dacoco, a Swiss company based in Zurich, known for pioneering decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and community-driven gaming experiences. With a global player base and millions of active users, Alien Worlds has become a flagship example of how blockchain can reshape interactive entertainment.
I worked as a Senior Designer at the Swiss company Dacoco (Zurich), contributing to the development of the blockchain game Alien Worlds.
As part of a large, international team of over 100 members, I focused on building design systems, UI/UX for both the game and its web platforms, and marketing style guides that shaped the visual identity of Alien Worlds. Over 2.5 years, I delivered a wide range of impactful projects, from scalable design foundations to creative media experiments.
It was an amasing team and I made many beautiful porjects such as:
- DESIGN SYSTEM
- MARKETING STYLE GUIDE
- THE DAO
- TOKENIZED LORE
- ALIENWORLDS.IO

DESIGN SYSTEM
The task was to completely redesign the UI/UX of the Alien Worlds game . When I joined the project, Alien Worlds had grown into one of the world’s most popular blockchain games — but it lacked a unified design system. Interfaces across the game, websites, and marketing materials were inconsistent, which slowed down development and made scaling difficult. Our task was to create a scalable, centralized design system to bring consistency and efficiency across all touchpoints.
Create and Implemented and a new components and UI kit
Systematized interface components in Figma
Collaborated on the overall structure with developers team
Designed a new iconography and language
We conducted a full audit of existing interfaces, then created a component library in Figma. The system was integrated into a new game engine and documented for seamless use by designers, developers, and marketers. I worked closely with engineering and marketing to ensure the system could scale and remain flexible for future features.
The design team performed a full audit of existing interfaces and created a reusable component library in Figma. We worked closely with developers during the migration to a new game engine, ensuring seamless integration. The system was introduced gradually, accompanied by presentations to stakeholders and phased adoption into production — leading to a more robust Design System 2.0.
To ensure the system met real user needs, we invested heavily in UX research and validation:
- Conducted user research sessions and focus groups to evaluate usability pain points
Held multiple team workshops and cross-departmental meetings with design, marketing, and engineering
Established KPIs and UX metrics to track adoption, efficiency, and overall impact
Iterated based on feedback and quantitative results before rollout
Comprehensive design system in Figma (components, iconography, typography)
Usage documentation and internal guidelines
Marketing Style Guide for external publishing and campaigns
Presentations and rollout plan for Design System 2.0
- Unified visual and interaction language across game, website, and marketing
- Faster design-to-development handoffs and improved production efficiency
- Higher usability and more consistent player experience
- A scalable foundation that supports future features and growth
Marketing
Style Guide
After building the Alien Worlds Design System, we faced another challenge: marketing lacked consistency. Campaigns, visuals, and social media assets were fragmented, with no unified rules or identity. Recognizing this gap, I proposed creating a Marketing Style Guide — a natural extension of the design system — to ensure the brand looked and felt cohesive across every channel.
Initiated and led the idea of creating the guide as a brand designer
Structured and documented marketing design principles
Worked with colors, planetary assets, and visual styles for campaigns
Collaborated closely with the marketing team to ensure adoption
Extended the design system philosophy into brand and communication touchpoints
We systematized brand assets from scratch: logos, typography, and marketing colors were refined and unified. A key milestone was visualizing and codifying the identity of all six planets — central elements of Alien Worlds’ lore. Each planet received its own emblem, coat of arms, and visual system, which were then integrated into broader marketing campaigns. The guide also covered rules for social media, advertising, and co-branding.
Conducted audits of existing marketing campaigns, identifying inconsistencies
Worked with community feedback loops — the Alien Worlds community actively reviewed and provided input on the guide
Adjusted guidelines based on community insights to ensure resonance with players and ambassadors
Ran focus groups and workshops with both internal stakeholders and external community members
Complete Marketing Style Guide (Figma + documentation)
Planetary identity system (6 planets: symbols, coats of arms, visualizations)
Standardized brand rules for campaigns, advertising, and community use
Templates for social media, digital campaigns, and co-branding initiatives
Documentation and rollout plan across marketing and community channels
- tronger and more consistent Alien Worlds brand identity
- Systematic use of planetary symbolism in marketing and community storytelling
- Faster production of marketing assets, reducing inconsistencies across campaigns
- Increased alignment between product, marketing, and community visuals
- A co-created brand language shaped together with the community
alienworlds.io
Corporative website design
This was a major site redesign for Alien Worlds: ~1.5 years of work, a large budget and cross-functional team. We iterated through nine design variants driven by stakeholder reviews and extensive community input, shipped the main site, and then—within a few months—began targeted UX reworks of several large sections based on real-world usage.

triactor
Within the Alien Worlds economy, the in-game currency TLM (Trilium) plays a central role. However, its complexity made it hard for players to fully understand how the system works. Our team was tasked with creating a narrative and visual concept that could explain TLM in an engaging, educational, and immersive way.
Through a series of creative brainstorms, we developed the concept of Triactor Tech — a fictional energy-extraction technology that visualizes TLM as energy drawn from three core sources.
Participated from concept to final delivery — from story development to design and production
Designed the 2D visualization and later supervised the 3D modeling in Blender and 3ds Max
Contributed to the creative direction, visual identity, and animation concepts
Developed materials for the marketing campaign, including videos, motion reels, and promotional effects
Worked closely with developers, storytellers, and the community to ensure clarity and engagement

tokenized lore
Tokenized Lore was one of the most ambitious creative projects within the Alien Worlds universe — an initiative to expand the game’s narrative into a tokenized metaverse. Building upon ideas introduced in Triactor Tech, the goal was to create a deeply connected world uniting the game’s six planets, diverse races, and cultural mythologies into a coherent story ecosystem.
Our team of around 15–20 people, together with the Alien Worlds community, set out to develop an entire narrative and visual universe — a living world that players could explore, own, and participate in through NFTs and decentralized storytelling.
A key creative milestone of the project was the collaboration with the renowned American science fiction author Kevin J. Anderson (known for Dune, Star Wars, and The X-Files). Anderson wrote a foundational novella that shaped the lore and defined the tone of the Alien Worlds universe.
Served as lead visual designer and concept artist, responsible for the visualization of the eight main races and their worlds
Created concept sketches, character designs, and 3D models in collaboration with artists and lore specialists
Structured and designed the final Tokenized Lore book, compiling visual materials, stories, and race descriptions
Worked closely with Kevin J. Anderson, writers, and the internal design team to ensure a cohesive visual and narrative direction
Organized and led creative reviews, working sessions, and coordination with developers and community contributors
Worldbuilding & Research — Defined the visual direction and mythology of the Alien Worlds metaverse across six planets.
Race Development — Designed and visualized eight core races, each with unique history, culture, and aesthetic.
Collaboration with Kevin J. Anderson — Integrated Anderson’s novella into the world structure, aligning visuals and story arcs.
Concept Art & 3D Design — Produced sketches, color explorations, and 3D assets for races, environments, and artifacts.
Community Involvement — Conducted brainstorming sessions and discussions with community members who contributed ideas and feedback.
Book Creation — Compiled all lore, visuals, and narratives into a structured, illustrated book, serving as the official foundation of the Tokenized Lore universe.
Working with Kevin J. Anderson was a highlight of this project and one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. After the release, Kevin personally mentioned me on Twitter, thanking me for the visual design and artistic presentation of the Tokenized Lore project.
As a lifelong fan of science fiction, having one of my favorite authors publicly appreciate my work felt almost surreal — and it remains my favorite tweet ever. 😏😏
